Heart drops

With a beat that shudders bones.

Spears of light slice thick theater darkness

For clouds to roll in, envelop the space

With bold breath,

Thunder in whispers.

The rumbling takes shape,

Skimming the surface where feet will

Strike gold and green

Like flint to wood

And explode,

Icy fingers of fire igniting skin

And limb.

Every movement's electric,

Every heartbeat's a cry,

Pain and pleasure wrenched free,

History unmoored

By song.

And across the sea of frozen faces,

Everyone

Burns the same.
